Our Cabinet’s education credentials

I would firstly like to say that I am neutral on the subject of whether it is a good idea that the vast majority of our Cabinet attended Oxford or Cambridge. I am much more worried about the lack of representation for women and some of the views held by people in the new Cabinet. This is just meant to be a one-stop source of information on the interesting subject of the education of our cabinet.

  • David Cameron – Brasenose College, Oxford – PPE (Politics, Philosophy and Economics)
  • Nick Clegg – Robinson College, Cambridge – Arch & Anth
  • George Osbourne – Magdalen College, Oxford – Modern History
  • Theresa May – St Hugh’s College, Oxford – Geography
  • William Hague – Magdalen College, Oxford – PPE
  • Vince Cable –  Fitzwilliam College, Cambridge -Natural Sciences, switched to Economics

Oxbridge alumni – 17/27 (or 16, if you don’t count Villiers as her undergrad was at Bristol)

Cambridge Alumni – 6/27

Oxford alumni – 11/27 (or ten, if you don’t count Villiers as her undergrad was at Bristol)

PPE graduates – 6/27

Magdalen College, Oxford graduates – 4/27

There are more Oxford PPE graduates on our Cabinet than women.
